Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Lead Person in our York, PA location.  The Lead Person is a key role in operation of the Fabrication department. This position works closely with the production team to meet production targets, maintain quality standards, and optimize machine performance. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Sets up press dies for machine operators and takes responsibility for reviewing the set-ups of the machine operator/set-up team members. Maximizes efficiency of the process to maintain production and quality standards.
  • Serves as the back-up to the supervisor, ensures production schedules are maintained, and assigns duties to operators during the shift. 
  • Repairs and maintains dies and tooling and ensures quality production parts to meet customer requirements. 
  • Works with supervisor in decisions on replacing or adding dies to maintain production schedules.
  • Prioritizes the press area to ensure the integrity of the schedules are followed.
  • Monitors the training of all personnel in the press area.
  • Performs production duties of other team members as needed.
  • Maintains a neat, orderly work area to include tools and supplies being correctly maintained, stored and organized. 
  • Assists in general shop housekeeping.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  •  High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Prior leadership experience in a production or fabrication setting is preferred
  • Experience in an aluminum fabrication facility is preferred

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Must be able to communicate work instructions to team members
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form 
  •  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and die drawings, and ensure set-up complies with those blueprints or die drawings
  • Leadership skills are essential for training, guiding, and supporting team members.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are needed to prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
  • Regular attendance required

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

 

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and industrial machinery.
  • There is frequent exposure to vibration, aluminum dust, and varying temperatures.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
