Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as the Operations Manager, Cast Products at our Greenville, PA location. 

The Operations Manager, Cast Products coordinates the day-to-day activities of all Cast House operations while working to continuously improve the safety culture and overall environment of all operations. Additionally, working to sustain and improve the quality of the product and the efficiency of the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the foremen/supervisors who oversee hourly employees in the Cast House and Yard (Raw Materials area), and is responsible for the day-to-day direction and coordination of these units
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include directing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; safety awareness and compliance; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Works daily with the Teams to create an Injury Free environment through empowering the workforce to make changes and create the envisioned culture. Attends all Safety Committee meetings when appropriate.  Assures all required training is done within policy timelines.  Assures all documentation pertaining to safety concerns is turned in and corrective actions are implemented and communicates changes to all team members
  • Responsible for making sure there is a clear vision on the KPI plans and action items, so each team member understands the expectations and accountability of results
  • Confers with Casting Leadership to establish production quantities and schedules, as well as compliance to the Quality Management System. Also responsible for operational spending to be within the budgeted amounts, and to collect and analyze data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered
  • Collects and analyzes data relating to production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems. Expected to know and use proven problem-solving methods i.e. fish bone diagrams, statistical process control tools, formal corrective action and preventative action programs
  • Identifies, develops and implements process improvements for all operations and processes/procedures with the goal of reducing/eliminating operating problems as well as to improve efficiency, product quality and lower cost.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as needed to support the customer requirements
  • Responsible for implementing continuous improvement activities and corrective actions relating to the customer feedback on quarterly surveys to meet customers’ expectations
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products to meet each customers expectation, and to ensure effective and efficient operations and cost factors
  • Assists in the implementation and training of all team members in the Cast House Training program
  • Responsible for all payroll requirements to assure all payroll rules are followed and timecards are correct and submitted in a timely manner to assure the workforce gets paid properly
  • Serves as a member of the Cast Products Leadership Team in support of all cast house team members.
  • Coordinates and communicates production activities with Leadership and Maintenance to obtain maximum efficient productivity, as well as optimal utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment
  • Accountable for site P&L
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent degree from a two-year college or technical school 
  • Five years of experience and training in a molten metal environment

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Safety champion that creates a safe and injury free environment for all team members
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Forklift, Overhead Crane and Molten Metal training &/or experience is required
  • Computer skills in systems such as word, excel and power point
  • Must understand PLC controls used in melting, casting and homogenizing units
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen  
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available  
  • Must have regular attendance

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
