Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Press Utility - Night Shift team member at our Wellsville, PA location. The Press Utility team member assists and performs the duties of press crew members as directed by the Shift Foreman or Lead Person. The Press Utility team member moves extrusions throughout the plant utilizing a tow motor.  This position also provides departments with various supplies and assists with trash pick-up. 

 

This position works a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on rotating days and weekends.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assists the Press Operator with die changes and runout table set up. 
  • Assists Stretchers, Saw Crews, Tow Motor Operator, and Press Operator as needed;  fills in for press crew team members during absences. 
  • Loads and unloads trucks as needed. 
  • Operates forklift and/or tow motor in a safe and efficient manner moving supplies and extrusions throughout the plant.  Must attend and pass Forklift Operators Safety course and possess a valid license to operate Forklifts. 
  • Empties trash containers as needed. 
  • Places empty baskets on wheels for saw crew. 
  • Empties scrap hoppers, separating alloy 6061 from 6063 as directed.  
  • Loads and unloads heat treat ovens; moves metal to next department/area. 
  • Follows proper procedures for the start-up of Age Ovens, selecting the proper cycles. Completes documentation and charts as required 
  • Monitors Age Cycles periodically to assure proper operation. 
  • Responsible for making sure forklift is maintained in a safe working order. Reports any defects to Shift Foreman or Lead Person. Completes preventative maintenance and corresponding paperwork as directed.  
  • Replaces propane bottle fueling forklift as needed. Places empty propane bottles in the proper area. 
  • Completes any paperwork required by the position.  
  • Assists with maintaining a neat and orderly plant, ensuring aisle ways are kept clear. Performs housekeeping duties as directed.  
  • Follows company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

 

Education 

  • High school diploma or the equivalent experience is required. 

 Experience 

  • One or more years of experience operating a forklift and/or manufacturing equipment.

 Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities    

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to operate mobile powered equipment and possesses good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment
  • Willingness to work in a variety of settings, including indoors and outdoors, and in different weather conditions
  • Consistently exhibits a positive, respectful attitude towards co-workers and customers
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
  • Regular attendance required

The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations.
