Overview

Job Summary: 

 

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Saw Operator in our Wellsville, PA location.  The Saw Operator operates single or multiple blade circular saws. The Saw Operator uses the appropriate saw to cut aluminum extrusions and aluminum products to specified lengths and tolerances paying close attention to meet required specifications and quality standards. The Saw Operator inspects lengths and cut pieces to ensure they meet the customer requirements. This is a night shift position working 7pm to 7am with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repetitively lifts aluminum extrusions of various lengths from metal carriers to saw in-feed table.
  • Sets up saw to cut pieces to desired specifications.
  • Ensures that all cuts are made to meet customer specifications and tolerances. Take measurements and ensures that customer specifications are met.
  • Gathers all material needed for framing bundles, such as but not limited to: tape, stretch wrap cardboard, paper, banding, etc.
  • Visually inspects metal while forming bundles looking for burrs, scratches, chips, gouges, dents, bubbles, die lines, etc. Ensure all pieces meet or exceed customer specifications.  When material is questionable, contacts Foreman, Supervisor or QA Inspector for review / approval.
  • Assembles bundles per part specific work instructions utilizing packing materials to meet customer specifications.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair. Assists with general housekeeping of other areas as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

 

Experience 

  • 1 to 3 related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
  • Must have regular attendance

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
