Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Saw Operator in our York, PA location. The Saw Operator sets up and operates one or more single or multiple blade table saws to cut aluminum extrusions to specified lengths by performing the following duties.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Receives saw assignments and job duties from saw lead person, shop foreman, or supervisor.
  • Adjusts and secures ends and backstops on saw table according to specified length of stock.
  • Operates saw and places material on conveyor belt that feeds stock into saws. May also position workpiece against end stop and under saw, requiring saw operator to synchronize action with automatically descending blade. This may also be performed while pushing material on table and cutting pieces.
  • Ensures that first and last pieces of cut material are inspected for quality purposes. Periodic checks may also be required.
  • Replaces dull or damaged saw blades and lubricates machine.
  • Examines all materials prior to cutting to determine what cuts will remove defects and produce maximum footage.
  • Verifies dimensions of stock cuts and accuracy of cuts.
  • Packs or stacks all cut pieces; informs the lead person of this step being completed so that material can be processed to the next operational step.
  • Operates forklift and moves materials for processing and finishing.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with fabricated pieces.
  • Weighs scrap material before depositing it in appropriate containers.
  • Assists other assemblers in performance of their duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of machine operation in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities    

  • Valid forklift operator’s license and have prior forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills.
  • Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Must have regular attendance.

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
