Overview

 

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Tail Stretcher at our Wellsville, PA location. The Tail Stretcher works with the press team and repetitively moves aluminum extrusions into stretcher jaws. 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Uses metal shear pruners to even up lengths of metal to make all extrusions the same length as instructed by foreman or Lead Person. 
  • Moves the stretcher to appropriate length, inserts the extrusion into the clamp and makes sure it is secure before signaling the Head Stretcher to commence stretching operation. Uses blocks and gauges when required. 
  • In conjunction with Head Stretcher, moves the extrusions, up to 120 feet, across the walking table to the stretching workstation. Handles metal carefully while minimizing scratches and dents. 
  • Informs Head Stretcher or Foreman/Lead Person immediately if extrusions are still twisted or snaked after the stretch or if any other problems are observed. 
  • Assists saw crews to ensure production is not stalling. 
  • Regularly checks all equipment, making sure it is in safe working condition. Reports all potential problems or defects to Shift Foremen or Lead Person immediately 
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area and assists with the general housekeeping of the Press Department. This includes cleaning up cut-off lengths of metal from under the cooling table.  
  • Follows company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience 

  • 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills.
  • Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.   
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment or in a team environment and possess good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Must have regular attendance.

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations.
