Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Press Inspector at our Wellsville, PA location.  The Extrusion Press Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting aluminum extrusion to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications. This role conducts visual and dimensional inspections, identifies defects, and maintains high manufacturing standards. The Press Inspector ensures that extruded products meet company and customer requirements, documents inspection results, and assists in troubleshooting production issues. 

 

This will be a 12-hour night shift position from 7pm to 7am with rotating weekends.  

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Reads and understand blueprints and standard tolerance tables.
  • Performs basic math calculations.
  • Develops and implements various types of production procedures and documents in procedure folder.
  • Assists press operator with die changes and setting press parameters.
  • Inspects die layout and clearance of tooling in die slide.
  • Sets up run out table (organize and arrange blocks, etc.) for production.
  • Sets up water boxes, water pans, cooling fans and other special requirements for various alloys.
  • Inspects material during production using micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Inspects material at stretcher and saw to assure product quality.
  • Instructs stretcher and saw operators on procedures to be used to handle material.
  • Communicates effectively and thoroughly both written and verbal, between shift foreman, die shop, operations and shifts.
  • Completes inspection/production reports and maintains accurate records. 
  • Evaluates and takes corrective action to eliminate defective extrusions.
  • Works under limited supervision and possesses ability to make decisions.
  • Assists final inspector when necessary.
  • Regularly checks all equipment, reports any potential problems or defects immediately.
  • Maintains neat and orderly work area and assists with general housekeeping of the press department.
  • Follows company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One or more years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Previous metal inspection experience or mechanical drafting background preferred.  Aluminum experience is preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience working with metal is required.

 

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities    

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting, possess excellent communication skills, read blueprints, utilize measuring equipment and operate production equipment.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available 
  • Regular attendance required

The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations.
