Saw Helper - Night Shift

Job Summary:  

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Saw Helper - Night Shift at our Wellsville, PA location. The Saw Helper visually inspects extrusions ensuring they meet quality standards before being placed in baskets. This is a 12-hour shift from 7pm to 7am with rotating days.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Repetitively lifts aluminum extrusions that can be up to forty feet long and weigh up to seventy-five pounds from saw table to metal basket.
• Visually inspects metal while placing extrusions in baskets looking for burrs, scratches, chips, gouges, dents, bubbles, die lines, etc.  Ensures all pieces meet or exceed customer specifications.  When material is questionable, the saw helper will contact the foreman, supervisor or inspector for approval.
• Keeps spacers level and even during stacking operation.
• Blows off saw chips between each row or when the basket is full depending on customer need and specifications.
• Assists Saw Operator with cutting up scrap and placing scrap in scrap hopper.
• Moves wheeled baskets into or out of workstation ensuring they do not block aisleways or walkways.
• Assists Saw Operator with weighing and recording empty and full baskets/racks before baskets are moved out of the work area.
• Changes saw blades and adds oil to the saw as needed.
• Regularly checks all equipment to ensure it is in safe working order.  Reports potential problems or defects to foreman or lead person.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area by performing general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair.  May assist with general housekeeping of the extrusion area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• 1 to 3 years of warehouse experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• 1 year of machine/equipment operation experience is preferred

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers. 
• Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available
• Must have regular attendance

• The employee is regularly required to stand.

• The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

• The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
