Overview

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to understand which materials or containers need to be loaded or moved.
  • Loads and unloads materials by loading straps and forklift to trailers or staging area.
  • Materials need to be staged in a way that provides ease of access for loading customer orders; the team may need to discuss best practices to ensure this is an option when possible.
  • Calculates weights and volumes to ensure that loads will fit safely, and that space is used appropriately and effectively.
  • Makes decisions on how to best load an order or stage materials.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Transfers materials from storage or work sites to designated area, conferring with team to facilitate best method of storage.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and moves load to destination via crane, forklift or the combi.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical to ensure load will fit in the truck and that truck space is being efficiently utilized with customer orders and weights. Attention to detail with loading order of stops is important.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on containers in bundles for proper location and weights.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together as needed for staging on skid. Attention to bundle sizes is important to ensure each skid is loaded properly.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment.
  • Assembles pallets or side kits to contain products on trailers.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of building a skid.
  • Assists with general housekeeping of the staging area and overflow baskets. Bands baskets for transfers to York.
  • Adapts and commitments to safety and safely loading items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

 

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience 

  • 1 to 3 years of warehouse experience required. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Forklift experience is required.
  • Forklift Operator license is required.
  • Loading and/or unloading experience is preferred.
  • Shipping/packing knowledge is preferred. 

 Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers. 
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures or rulers.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to operate overhead crane.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.

Environmental Hazards

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
