Overview

 

 

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Controller at our Leetonia, OH location. We are looking for an experienced Controller to direct financial activities of the organization. 

Responsibilities

  • Establishes, or recommends to management, economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company. 
  • Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs. 
  • Reviews activities and establishes procedures for the proper care and custody of corporate assets.
  • Prepares reports that summarize company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. 
  • Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. 
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities. 
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. 
  • Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions. 
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies. 
  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports. 
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures. 
  • Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records. 
  • Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies. 
  • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems. 
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. 
  • Reviews financial statements with management personnel. 
  • Directs areas of credit, invoicing, collections, accounts payable and cash disbursements. 
  • Manage subordinate supervisor(s) and maintain responsibilities for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting department. 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. 
  • Conduct interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
  • Position allows for telecommuting within reasonable commuting distance of reporting office in Leetonia, Ohio. 
  • The position requires domestic travel up to 25% of the time to visit company offices and manufacturing sites.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or foreign equivalent)
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Professional Accountant) certification

Experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • 10 years of financial reporting and analysis experience in public and/or industry practice
  • 5 years of experience with completing compliance returns
  • 5 years of experience with organization systems, testing and department workflow, such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Intercompany Accounting
