Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor directs and coordinates maintenance, the repair and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in a safe manner.  The supervisor will lead a team of maintenance techs. This position also oversees the building maintenance, grounds, and utility systems of office and plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate maintenance technicians:

Responsibilities

  • Reviews work orders to determine job priorities; schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production. 
  • Provides hands-on assistance in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. This includes a working understanding of the electrical circuitry, hydraulic system, pneumatic system, combustion system, and mechanical operation of the equipment as required.
  • Directs maintenance employees engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing equipment.
  • Reviews production schedules and estimates maintenance time requirements for job assignments like but not limited to PMS repairs, and upgrades to adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Manages large projects such as equipment installations and utility upgrades, working with management and outside resources to provide required technical support. Provides direct equipment-specific training for maintenance employees.
  • Requisitions and maintains spare parts inventory; issues purchase orders for maintenance material and supplies while managing the maintenance budget.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Develops and maintains preventive maintenance program in conjunction with operations team. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Confers with management, safety, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations safety, and conditions of machines and equipment.
  •  Follow safety guidelines for personal protective equipment, lockout tag out, fall protection, and ARC flash protection.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate will have:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred, but not required
  • Eight or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience should include electrical competency, mechanical troubleshooting and repair, PLC proficiency, installations, facilities and equipment maintenance

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to use measuring devices, rulers, micrometers, etc.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read maintenance blueprints, hydraulic schematics, ladder diagrams and bill of materials

The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
