Overview

A Die Corrector inspects, files, sands, and polishes surface of extrusion die parts to specified shape and smoothness and inspects dies for conformity to prototype parts or drawings.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lifts and positions die parts on bench.
  • Studies blueprints, die models, and prototype parts, and compares them with die to ascertain contours.
  • Inspects and verifies dimensions and radii of new die tooling before releasing for Die Trial. 
  • After die trial, correct dies to meet print and Customers demand, if necessary.
  • Observes pattern where surfaces make contact, and correct until die member conforms to specified contour.
  • Review and Inspect die tooling after production to polish or correct die parts.
  • Assists in training new die setters and die correctors.
  • Inspects smoothness and contour for conformity to print.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and several years of die correction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience 

  • Several years of die correction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      

 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

 

Environmental Hazards

 

Physical

  • The employee is regularly required to use his or her hands to finger, handle and feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop or crouch.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts or machines; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud requiring the use of hearing protection.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
