Overview

Shift Hours: 2nd shift 3:00pm- 11:00pm Monday Thru Fridays 

 

Report to: Maintenance Supervisor

 

 

Job Summary:  Are you an individual that enjoys problem solving with a mechanical aptitude?  Consider joining the Pennex Team at our York, PA location as a Maintenace Tech.  The Maintenance Tech repairs and maintains the equipment of all production and facilities. This position must have excellent diagnostic ability and repair skills in a variety of fields, such as but not limited to, mechanical, welding hydraulics, pneumatics combustion and electrical.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responds to service calls from all departments involving breakdowns to diagnose and repair equipment as required
  • Prioritizing repairs with input and direction from leadership.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus. Diagnoses, repairs or replaces faulty hydraulic or pneumatic components; mechanical components, including but not limited to bearings, couplings, etc; combustion components; and electronic components, including but not limited to, power supplies, processor, printed circuit boards, etc.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance (P.M.) on plant equipment including, but not limited to, extrusion presses and auxiliary equipment, melting furnace, casting unit, billet saw, homogenizing furnace, etc.
  • Conducts daily inspection of the operation of the air compressors and compressed air system including maintenance of oil levels, air filters, dryer operation, etc.
  • Conducts daily inspection of the operation of the caster cooling water system including maintenance of the water level, water quality, water filtration, etc.
  • Performs daily inspection of the operation of the extrusion presses including maintenance of the oil levels, oil leaks, billet heater operation, cutoff saw operation, transfer operation, stretcher operation, etc.
  • Installs and/or modifies equipment in cooperation with the Engineering Services Manager to improve the reliability, simplify the operation, improve operational safety, etc.
  • Completes all paperwork including daily work sheets assigning work to appropriate jobs or equipment in ¼ hour increments.
  • Follows company rules, regulations and policies regarding work and safety practices.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair. Assists with general housekeeping of the Maintenance area.
  • Maintain and repair Forklift.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education 

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; and five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience 

  • Experience with welding competency, hydraulic and pneumatic circuit components, knowledge of relay logic components, PLC logic components, bearing, gear reducers, equipment alignment and piping installation.

 

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities      

 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use measuring devices, rulers, micrometers, etc.
  • Understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Problem solving with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read maintenance blue prints, hydraulic schematics, ladder diagrams and bill of materials.
